Social Media Recent Research

From Wiredset research lead Sara today... Two recent emarketer articles of note, the first regarding online videos (both professional and user generated).
Also below are some interesting and applicable stats from the article, (the study was from 11/07):

* 25% of A18-24 said they would watch more movie trailers if available online
* 10% of A18-24 said they would watch more user generated videos (UGV) if available
* 30% of online A18-29 actively visit "video sharing sites"
* 17% of online users w/ some college education actively visit "video sharing sites"
* 18% of online users with a HHI 75K+ actively visit "video sharing sites"
* 18% of online English speaking Latinos actively visit "video sharing sites"


Also, another article discussing how media execs feel the growth and advertising opportunities on social networkign sites are overstated.


* 72% of execs feel that "niche enthusiastic online media" has accurate growth potential while 69% feel that social media networks have overhyped growth potential (versus 27% that think the growth potential is accurate).
* Also 62% think mobile content has accurate growth potential
* 47% think UGC has accurate growth potential (Versus 46% who think it's overhyped)
* 24.5% of marketers used viral web campaigns in campaigns
* 18.3% of marketers used blogger outreach in campaigns
* 13.6% of marketers used consumer generated advertising in campaigns
* 13.3% of marketers created youtue videos in campaigns
* 16.1% of marketers used social networking (not including straightforward flash/rich media placements on them) in campaigns
